A few months ago, I began a personal project documenting a cross-section of Brighton’s many independent businesses and quirky destinations mainly known to residents. I wanted to avoid ubiquitous high-street names, instead depicting true independents finding a way to survive in the competitive modern city.

The project began with a series of eight drawings of the North Laine, then extended to Seven Dials and I am now working on drawings of Preston Park/Fiveways. 

The drawings are done primarily in pen and ink and are a mixture of sketchbook studies made on site and drawings from my own photographs. 

These illustrations are available as digital prints and I am available for commissions. I am very interested in collaborations with independents, small businesses and niche companies.
